Teen Read Week is Over

We had a great time celebrating Teen Read Week (October 18-23, 2009) at the Fernley Branch. Last Friday the Awesome Teen Advisory Board (ATAB) threw a finale party for Teens and Tweens which was supported by the Friends of the Fernley Library.

Participants had a blast entering the ugliest, prettiest, and freakiest cupcake decorating contest; creating their own dust jacket for their favorite books; and building junkyard pumpkins! (The pumpkins were grown by Library Assistant Renee~Thanks for donating them Renee!)

The party was a hit and we can't wait to start planning for Teen Tech Week in the Spring!

September Trivia Question

March Brings The Luck of the Library to the Fernley Community!!

That's right, it is March and that means a little luck of the Irish and the Library will be spreading around our community! All month long stop by the Fernley Branch Library to learn a new trick or two and get your name in a weekly drawing for a chance to win like-new bestselling hardbacks--all part of our Luck of the Library promotion!!

What new tricks will our friendly staff teach you? How about how to manage your library account via the Web!?! You can place special orders for books and other library materials 24-7 from our automated online catalog ("CLAN"). You can also renew books, check to see if that book you ordered has arrived and much more all from the same system! If you ask the staff to show you how to take advantage of this incredibly easy system they will put your name in the hopper for a chance to win a book in the weekly drawing.

Do you already know how to use the online CLAN system? Stop in and tell the staff that you are an established user and they will drop your name in the hopper for a chance at the weekly prize too! If you are an old pro at using CLAN via the Web why not write a blurb on one of our very colorful Shamrocks to tell new users how easy and helpful the system is?!!?
